Best of American Lit

when i think back on this year, i think i did my best and understood well was the vocab. I loved to do the remix where i also had pics that made it easier to understand and grasp the meaning of the definition. I also thought it was the best class because us kids got to do things our way. Which our first nobody knew how,but once we got the hang of it there are no limitations!

JOHNNY CYBERPUNK

Johnny Mnemonic by William Gibson is a postmodernism/cyberpunk story. It was very confusing to understand. The way i understood it was that the reason why it is postmodernism was because it wasn't in  chronological order.

FUTURE ME

The experience i had when i was talking to myself was kind of weird. I just went on telling myself and reminding myself what i should do in the future and what i should have done. It is going to be kind of exciting to get an email in the future.

POSTMODERNISM PROJECT

http://prezi.com/jgeqs26fvatx/edit/#15

SCHLACHTOF DREL & SCHLACHTOF VEIR

  • We talked about in class how the dog was borrowed for war and was suppose to be mean and ferocious was actually named Princess.
  • When the scouts who ditched Billy and Weary got shot all i thought was karma is B***H!
  • Also i was really grossed out about the picture of the woman and pony.
  • Also really grossed out about the vibrator.
  • It just hard because it switches different stories.

SCHLACHTOF ZWEL

ABSURD: Wildly unreasonable, illogical or in appropriate.
One example that happens a lot that is absurd to me is that everyone thinks my mom and i look like sisters.

- Apparently he got the saying "so it goes" from tralfamdorian.
-When the author said that Billy went to Joe College it reminded me of one of the homework assignments because we had to title it that.
-Also this book is very confusing. Now i know why it's considered postmodernism because nothing is in order. It skips around a lot.

  • Uses the phrase so it goes when he talks about people dying or being dead.
  • He was rescued during the war and was taken care of also got sent home. Where he met his wife.
  • He worked as a police reporter for the famous Chicago City News Bureau.
  • He was an United World Federalist.

Great Gatsby Remix

Ivory and Mac were in high school together. They were soul mates, best friends, and were madly in love with each other. They did everything together. One day after school Mac's parents broke some bad news to him. His parents were in the military and they were being transferred to another base far away. Mac was so upset and he broke down crying when he had to to tell Ivory what was going on. The first couple months while they were separated they kept in touch with each other writing the old fashion letters. They soon lost touch. Ivory's parents told her it was time to move on and that they had arranged a marriage for her. Someone who had a lot of money who would take care of her finically. She didn't love him she was only doing this to make her parents happy. After a couple years they were married they started their own family. Mac finally moved out on his own to fine his true love again. He heard that she never moved out of their home town, so he went back. They ran into each other at a market. They walked together to a cafe to catch up with each other. They met up there everyday, it was like they had never left each other. They told her husband that she was leaving him. The day after somebody robbed  Mac's house and killed him. Ivory was so scared and didn't know what to do she stayed with her husband and acted like nothing has happened.

Great Gatsby Essay

In the novel Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald Nick Carraway, is the confidant. His curiosity gave us a tour of Jay Gatsby's life. The reason why he is the confidant is because he is a good listener to everyone. He also becomes good friends with Gatsby who seems like the hero in this novel. He is also related to Daisy who is the heroine.
Nick's character changes the plot through out the novel. This is because everyone is so comfortable to tell him everything. Which gives him the inside stories of everyone life and everything that happens. He is basically the middle man to everyone. He helps the reader understand what is going on because he describes it through his eyes.
I think the book wouldn't be as good if we didn't know who was the telling the novel. It wouldn't be as interesting like it is when someone who is actually involved in the story. It gives us a perspective of what to imagine.

Vocab Review

There was a savage accident when a guy and his bestfriend were driving home late from a party. All because he didn't have good morality. When his best friend was injured badly and had a brain defect. He started feeling remorse which was chronic everday sense the accident. There was no alternative from this. He can't change what has happen. But in the mean time he is losing his sanity. People who he isn't even close to who he is just aquaintances with have a bad sentiment about what he has done. He was phenomenon by everyone. The implication he got out of this was to make good choices.

Joe College

Some campuses that I am interested in are San Diego State, Cal Poly, and USB. There are a couple job fields that i have been thinking about which one. Which is criminal justice/law enforcement or beauty. The biggest challenge is to choose a job field or a job that i enjoy and pays well. My mind keeps changing so i dont even have an idea on what classed i should take.

Modernist.

My writing is different from five years ago.  The reason why my writing is modern today is because there are more words that we use. Also the way we are taught because now some teachers have a new way of teaching us. I have grown and changed from five years ago too. I learned a lot more within those five years. I also matured a lot sense then. The world has changed so much from five years ago. Now it's a lot about technology. These ways has changed my writing.

MY MODERNIST

I picked Langston Hughes, because we already read a poem that he had wrote. It was called Theme for English B. I though it was a very interesting poem. We also kind of went over him a little bit in class too.

I AM HERE!

My progress this course i think has been good. I may not post things right away but I make sure the things get done. My collaborating skills i think have got way better sense the beginning of the year. I also put more effort out in class. Like ask more questions when i don't understand them or help out another student.

Mildred's Parlor

The scene when Montag recited "Dover Beach" to Mildred and her friends was when they were in the kitchen just talking. Then Montag decide to come in with the bible. Then recite it.

A Sad World: By Gregory Huyette

The world is ruled by law and in a way that's so very sad.

It's not a matter of what's right or wrong or good or bad.

Facts depend on points-of-view and truth holds little sway.

Money and power are the arbiters of morality today.

Each one who still believes that what's good will win out,

Should receive praise and respect, but there's little doubt

That each day that bygone world becomes less the rule,

As each day, so sadly, each of these appears more the fool.

Parlor Poetry

A Sad World: By Gregory Huyette

The world is ruled by law and in a way that's so very sad.

It's not a matter of what's right or wrong or good or bad.

As each day, so sadly, each of these appears more the fool.
I would choose this poem to read to Mildred and her friends because it relates to Montag because you have to follow that law no matter what even if it is wrong. Also there are people out there that still believe.

my 451

A summary about Fahrenheit 451.
-It is about a firefighter name Montag who thinks his life is great. His job is to burn books. But one day he meets a girl named Clarisse and from then on she made him start to question the way he was living. If it has always been that way. He took a book from one of the houses he burned. His boss captain Beatty found out about it. They got called to out to a job and to find out it was his house. Beatty and montag got into and montag killed him and then burnt his own house. Later that night he was on the run but then met up with Faber. Montag found a group of old professor who were also on the run. his city was bombed.

I'm a poet and I know it

Clarisse had to ask me all these questions
now its time for my confession
I came to realize that I'm not really happy with my life
Here are the reasons why.

Theme for English B

Yes i think i am the person my teachers think i am. I'm serious but yet can be my goofy self and get things done and with my best effort. That's how i pursue my learning. Elements that i have to check before i enter the gates of my school is if i have all of my supplies that i need. Also if i have all my projects/homework done. Last if I'm in a good mood other wise i need to change it. I prefer to keep my personal life private from school so i can do better. I think it is possible to take ownership and control on my learning process. Well i only feel that way in one class and that is Dr. Preston's English class.
